1942

Founding; Peanut butter manufacturing began at Hikami County, Hyogo Prefecture.

1948

“Yamayoshi Shokai” (The predecessor of the Sonton Group) was established at Kobikicho,
Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

1950

The company name was changed to “Sonton Industry Co., Ltd.”

1954

Former Ishioka first factory began operating at Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

1961

The company name was changed to “Sonton Foods Industry Co., Ltd.”

1963

The company was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

1966

Osaka factory began operating at Ibaraki city, Osaka.

1972

Head office was established at Kayabacho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

1994

Ishioka third factory (current Ishioka first factory) began operating.

1996

All stocks of “Miyagi Agricultural Industry Co., Ltd.” were acquired.

1999

Head office moved to Sengoku, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.

2002

Founded subsidiary company “Wadayama Agricultural Industry Co., Ltd.”

2005

Ishioka first factory A wing began operating.

2006

The subsidiary company “Miyagi Agricultural Industry Co., Ltd.” changed its name to “Yakurai Foods Co., Ltd.” and the new factory began operating.

2012

New Osaka factory began operating.
Management buyout was executed and the stock delisted from the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

2013

Holding system was implemented and “Sonton Holdings Co., Ltd.” was established.
Overseas subsidiary “Sonton (Qingdao) Trading Co., Ltd.” was established at Qingdao, China.

2014

Overseas subsidiary “PT Sonton Food Indonesia” was established at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Head office moved to Toyo, Koto-ku, Tokyo.

2015

Sonton Foods Industry Corporation Division and spin-off of the Marketing Department
Sonton Corporation was founded.

2016

Founded subsidiary company Sonton (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd.
Founded subsidiary company Sonton (Yantai) Foods Co., Ltd.

2017

Sonton Holdings R&D Center was established.
